**Job Title: Pump Mechanic**
**Job Description**
The Pump Mechanic position involves disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, and reassembling pumps of various sizes and orientations. This role requires a strong technical aptitude and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
**Responsibilities**
+ Utilize various tools including hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, presses, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
+ Work on boiler feed pumps, both horizontal and vertical.
+ Interpret various inspection forms and documents, understanding both imperial and metric dimensions.
+ Disassemble, inspect, and assemble both vertical and horizontal pumps.
+ Identify worn or damaged parts in a pump.
+ Coordinate with the Shop Supervisor to plan and complete general assignments.
**Essential Skills**
+ Ability to read and write English.
+ Thorough knowledge in the preparation and use of hand, pneumatic, and other tools.
+ Capability to disassemble, inspect, and assemble various types of pumps.
+ Knowledgeable in assembling parts, quality control, and safety.
+ Understanding of all company safety and environmental practices.
+ Strong quality focus and team player attitude.
+ Reliability, dependability, and ability to work overtime as required, including weekends and holidays.
+ Ability to read various micrometers to maintain required tolerances.
+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Vo-Tech or Technical Degree preferred.
+ 5 years of mechanic experience preferred.
+ Drive for results and functional/technical skills.
+ Ability to stand and walk throughout an 8-hour or longer workday.
+ Capability to lift 50 lbs consistently.
+ Close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
+ Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts.
+ Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.
+ Experience in bending, kneeling, squatting, and twisting.
+ Experience with valves, pump assembly, blueprint reading, hydraulics, repair, and troubleshooting.

**Work Environment**
The position is based in a clean shop environment with a typical shift from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential overtime. The role involves working between 8-10 hours a day, with the possibility of driving a company vehicle for field service repairs in the future.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Hampton, VA.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
