Technical Product Owner
Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is the premier grassroots organization focused on advocating solutions to the country’s greatest challenges. We recognize that tens of millions of Americans are frustrated with the extreme partisanship in government that keeps common-sense reforms from being passed, and instead seek to stand with policy leaders who are committed to finding a better way.
Americans for Prosperity is part of the Stand Together philanthropic community.
As part of our Strategy & Business Operations team, the Technical Product Owner is responsible for ensuring one of AFP’s core grassroots engagement platforms, i360 , evolves to meet the organization’s highest-impact needs. Acting as a strategic bridge between AFP and developers, this role translates ideas and feedback into action
In this role, you will gather requirements across departments, prioritize work based on strategic business value (not individual preferences), and communicate decisions with clarity and confidence. You must be comfortable operating at both the tactical and strategic levels turning today’s feedback into tomorrow’s vision, while always weighing the downstream effects of technical changes.
\n How You Will Contribute- Partner with stakeholders across the organization to create clear, actionable user stories
- Translate high-level goals into features and workflows developers can execute
- Maintain a prioritized product backlog that reflects both near-term needs and long-term strategy
- Evaluate competing feature requests and seek and share knowledge to make informed decisions about which requests have the highest probability of advancing our strategic goals
- Ensure development decisions align with broader goals like improving volunteer retention, data quality, field efficiency, or platform adoption
- Assess downstream impact. Anticipate how platform changes may affect workflows, analytics, data governance, and user behavior balancing immediate needs with long-term system health
- Coordinate for technical alignment. Partner with capabilities across the Stand Together community to ensure technical feasibility, prevent negative ripple effects, and align on scalable solutions
- Communicate with clarity and respect. Explain product decisions and trade-offs to staff at all levels, tailoring the message to the audience and maintaining alignment
- Engage feedback constructively. Share updates regularly through meetings and documentation and use critical feedback as an opportunity to learn and grow. Coordinate with i360 and internal developers to scope, build, and refine platform enhancements
- Work closely with the Product Specialist, Technical Trainer, and Implementation team to test and launch new tools
- Experience managing projects, gathering requirements, and working with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Jira, and/or CRM systems
- Adaptable problem-solving experience
- Empathetic communication and openness to new ideas and feedback
- Strategic thinking
- Technical curiosity
- Enthusiasm to contribute to AFP's mission, vision, and culture
- Strong knowledge of i360 and its role in advocacy
- Background in grassroots or political advocacy, product support, and/or platform implementation
- Enjoy a 6% 401(k) match with immediate vesting, flexible time off, comprehensive health and dental plans, plus wellness and mental health support through Peloton and Talkspace.
