How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

Carilion Clinic comprehensive Police Officer Recruit Program, designed to equip candidates with the essential knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary for a successful law enforcement career in healthcare. This paid program spans 22 weeks, culminating in becoming a Virginia Law Enforcement Officer. We encourage interested applicants to apply promptly, as interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis. This program offers a solid foundation for a rewarding career in law enforcement, emphasizing community service and professional excellence. Recruits will be Carilion Clinic employees and paid for their time in the academy. Those that become a Law Enforcement Officer will be eligible for full-time employment opportunities at Carilion Clinic and those that do not obtain their license within the allotted timeframe will not be guaranteed employment.

Program Details:

• Start Date: [To Be Announced]

• Duration: 22 Weeks

• Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, 10-hour days.

• Compensation: Participants will be employed and compensated throughout the program

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend the Basic Law Enforcement School through Cardinal Criminal Justice Academy.

• Master assigned educational materials to ensure readiness for certification.

• Perform duties as trained, including:

• Assisting community members and managing inquiries.

• Updating and maintaining accurate reports.

• Answering calls for service.

• Utilizing various computer systems and applications effectively.

• Adhere to all safety protocols and policy standards.

What We Require:

Education: High School or equivalent required.

Experience: No experience required, but previous law enforcement or security experience is preferred.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Successful completion of all required background checks

• Residency in Virginia

• Reliable personal transportation

Other: Must possess a driving record within the scope of Carilion's Driver Regulations. Due to Virginia's state law, the applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Computer keyboarding skills. Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Meets Virginia's minimum requirements for law enforcement officers.
