Job Overview:
The Environmental Compliance Coordinator will ensure company compliance with environmental, chemical, waste management, and permit regulations at various locations in the Eastern Region of Virginia. This role is associated with Electric Distribution operational teams and involves sharing responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of work sites to comply with regulatory and company Environmental, Health, and Safety standards and procedures. The coordinator will communicate and prepare reports for submittal internally, externally, to governmental agencies, and customers. Additionally, the role includes providing environmental training to site personnel on handling chemicals and waste materials, spill prevention, erosion and sediment control, and other environmental compliance topics and requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company standards.
• Inspect and assess work sites for environmental compliance issues.
• Provide recommendations to personnel responsible for compliance tasks and management.
• Prepare and submit reports to internal teams, governmental agencies, and customers.
• Conduct environmental training for site personnel on various compliance topics.
• Travel within the Eastern Region, including eastern North Carolina/Outer Banks, five days a week.

Qualifications:

• Virginia Department of Environmental Quality Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector and Stormwater Inspector Certification.
• Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on environmental field experience.
• Experience with environmental regulations and applicable environmental requirements for environmental scope and permits.
• Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental discipline.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, in field environments, and in a team setting.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Leadership skills and ability to problem solve.
• Technological proficiency.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with an electric utility.
• Experience conducting project inspections.
• Experience working within a team.

Pay Range: $38.00 - $42.00
