The Brachova-Alvarez Laboratory is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team investigating the molecular mechanisms of ovarian aging and female reproductive biology. Our research integrates cutting-edge molecular, cellular, and computational approaches to understand how RNA processing, mitochondrial function, and ovarian cell composition contribute to reproductive lifespan and fertility.

Job Responsibilities:

Position Overview

The Project Scientist will contribute to NIH- and foundation-funded projects focused on:

• The role of RNA modifications in oocyte maturation and embryo development

Responsibilities

• Oocyte and embryo culture
• IVF/ICSI
• Conduct molecular and cellular biology experiments.
• Assist/perform ovarian follicle cultures and histological analyses.
• Manage laboratory records, data entry, and sample organization.
• Supervise staff
• Maintain compliance with institutional protocols for animal and biosafety research.

The Project Scientist will focus on oocyte, embryology, assisted reproductive technology work (ART), they will develop and test standard operating procedures for oocyte and embryo manipulations, They will also spend 20% of their time on animal husbandry, caring for and monitoring laboratory animals, and 10% on molecular biology tasks, 70% of their time on oocyte, embryology, and ART work.

Qualifications

• Oocyte and embryo manipulation and culture.
• A minimum of Master’s degree in Clinical Embryology or related field (required).
• A minimum of 5+ years experience in a clinical embryology laboratory
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
