Carpenter Co. has an opening for a Senior Program Manager at our corporate office in Richmond, Virginia . This position is responsible for leading and delivering complex, multi-phase technology projects across the organization.Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the successful candidate, you will be managing cross-functional engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and application teams to ensure successful delivery of technical solutions.Your additional responsibilities as Senior Program Manager will include:
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead multiple concurrent technical projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget, high‑quality delivery.
- Define project scope, objectives, requirements, KPIs, and success metrics.
- Drive comprehensive project plans including schedules, resource allocation, risk management, and change control.
- Translate business needs into technical requirements, working closely with engineering and architecture teams.
Technical Oversight
- Partner with technical leads, analysts, and engineers to understand solution design, system dependencies, and integration points.
- Ensure projects adhere to enterprise architecture, security standards, and infrastructure best practices.
- Supports SAP projects, including upgrades and integrations.
- Support troubleshooting and decision-making for risks, or constraints.
Stakeholder & Communication Management
- Serve as the a point of contact between business owners, IT leadership, project teams, and external vendors, as appropriate.
- Provide clear and concise executive-level reporting.
- Facilitate project meetings, , technical reviews, and cross-team coordination.
Risk, Issue & Dependency Management
- Proactively identify risks and issues; develop and execute mitigation strategies.
- Manage complex multi-team dependencies across applications, platforms, security, and infrastructure.
- Lead project retrospectives and incorporate lessons learned into future work.
Process & Methodology
- Promote best practices in project management, including Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall when appropriate.
- Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes, documentation standards, and team workflows.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience managing IT projects with increasing responsibility.
- Prior experience with SAP and system upgrades, preferred.
- Proven experience managing complex technical initiatives.
- Strong understanding of modern technologies such as cloud and application development.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Certifications such as PMP, PgMP, preferred
- Experience in enterprise-scale environments or regulated industries.
