Lead Preschool Teacher
Summary Primary Objectives:
- To provide a safe and quality preschool experience for the children in their care while teaching them in developmentally appropriate ways recognizing the individuality of each child.
- To promote a positive and responsive environment for the children, their families, and staff.
- Comply with all policies, procedures and guidelines issued by Walnut Grove Children's Learning Center.
- Completing approved training with a minimum of 16 hours of professional development each year.
- Supervising and ensuring the safety of all children.
- Planning and implementing activities for a specific group of children including written lesson plans submitted to the director on a weekly basis.
- Determining individual goals for each child every month and planning activities/implementing strategies to help each child achieve their goal.
- Planning and conducting parent conferences in the fall, spring, and any other time deemed necessary.
- Observing and documenting each child's development and behaviors.
- Using positive behavior guidance techniques with the children.
- Being responsible for the arrangement, décor, and learning environments in the classroom.
- Being responsible for reporting to the director any equipment repairs or replacements needed, maintenance needed in the room or elsewhere in the building or playground, and supplies that need to be reordered.
- Generally promoting a good rapport among staff members.
- Attending all staff meetings and programs sponsored by the center.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding children and their families.
- Maintaining professional conduct and attitudes in working with parents and staff as well as visitors and the general public.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and a dedication to continuing to learn new information in regards to providing the best learning environment for children
- Interpersonal and communication skills (including oral and written expression and comprehension skills)
- Organizational, planning and execution skills (including time management skills)
- Problem solving abilities and critical thinking skills
- Minimum 1-year experience with groups of preschool age children
- CPR, First Aid Certification
