About the role

Parento is seeking a driven, curious, and detail-oriented Software Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with strong skills in PHP , Laravel , and VueJS , who is eager to contribute to real-world SaaS products and platforms. This person will work on core systems powering the customer-facing web portal and backend infrastructure while shaping the future of a modern insurance-based program.

What You’ll Do

• Develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services that power an enterprise customer portal using PHP and the Laravel framework.
• Build and enhance frontend interfaces using Tailwind CSS and VueJS , ensuring responsive, user-friendly design.
• Collaborate closely with the product manager, designers, VP of Engineering, and other internal stakeholders to turn requirements into robust features
• Work on SaaS-based architecture, helping optimize performance, maintainability, reliability, and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and system design discussions. Comfortable using AI code-generation tools (Cursor AI, Claude, Copilot, etc.)
• Assist in integrating, training, and applying machine learning algorithms or big data pipelines to production workflows
• Contribute to improving the developer experience, CI/CD processes, and internal tools that help with developer productivity

Technical skills and experience

• Solid proficiency in PHP , Laravel , and VueJS
• Academic or hands-on experience working on SaaS products and web portals
• Exposure to or interest in big data processing and machine learning concepts
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), REST APIs, and databases like MySQL or MariaDB. Familiarity with analytics tools such as Metabase.
• Familiarity with a cloud-based architecture that spans multiple public clouds (AWS, Digital Ocean, Google Cloud).
• Excellent written communication skills (collaboration is primarily via email & Slack).

Preferred (But Not Required)

• Prior freelance or full-time work experience in Fintech or InsurTech industries
• Certification on using any public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience with data pipelines or ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Spark)
• Certification in Kubernetes (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer - CKAD)
• Comfortable working on WordPress and CMS platforms like Statamic or Ghost

Salary: $125-140k/year
