Direct Support Professional II
Job Duties:
The City of Virginia Beach is recruiting for a Direct Support Professional II to serve adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities within a residential setting. This position will work at our Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) assisting the ID/DD population with activities of daily living. As a City of Virginia Beach employee, the position is designated as an Alpha I and will be called up in the event of an emergency and will have a mandatory obligation to report where directed.
** And here is the exciting part! This position is eligible for a $2,500 hiring bonus!
Specific Duties:
Implement Person-Centered Treatment plans for up to 12 assigned participants.
Complete all required documentation to show progress or regression towards the participant’s plan goals within the quality and deadlines outlined in regulation and policy.
Complete all required billing processes to ensure the program to accurately and ethically bill for services provided.
Administer medications as prescribed utilizing the 5 Rights of administration; Assist with and/or complete hygiene tasks to include, but not limited to, showering, bathing, utilizing the restroom, changing protective undergarments, brushing teeth, etc.
Utilize safety and medical equipment as directed and trained by clinical staff.
Assist with scheduling and escorting on medical appointments, ensuring all necessary documentation from medical appointments and events are properly obtained and routed.
Ensure all residents receive a well-balanced meal a minimum of three times per day with a morning and afternoon snack option.
Identify, schedule, and support participants to participate in various community integration opportunities.
Transport participants with the use of a city vehicle and/or personal vehicle (dependent on program and city vehicle availability).
Available shifts:
Sun - Wed, 9:30PM – 7:30AM
Wed – Sat, 9:30PM – 7:30AM

$500 awarded on your first full paycheck
$750 after six months with a "Meets Expectations" performance evaluation
$1,250 after one years with a "Meets Expectations" performance evaluation

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUM: Requires a High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience working with Intellectually Disabled and/or Developmentally Disabled (ID/DD) clients OR any combination of education and/or related experience. Must have a current and valid drivers license.
SPECIAL: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs. Alpha I Status: Positions within this class have been designated as Alpha I positions requiring employees to work during inclement weather, regardless of the City's operational status.

Preferences:
Two years or more experience working with adults with ID
One year or more of ICF/ ID Residential experience
Medication Administration Certification
Experience providing positive behavioral support
Experience documenting in an Electronic Health Record
CNA or other medical experience

V RS Contribution: All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions. This will be handled through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
