MHI Ship Repair & Services is a major marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration and Commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. Our shipyard is conveniently located in the Mid-Atlantic region at the port of Hampton Roads, Norfolk Virginia.
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for identifying training needs throughout the company. Responsibilities include creating, implementing, conducting, and monitoring training plans/programs/requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work with Human Resources and managers to assess to identify training needs and requirements.
- Create training plans/programs that align with the organization's goals and values, and that comply with requirements for specific positions.
- Create a training matrix for individual departments.
- Implement and conduct training through various methods, such as classroom instruction, online courses, and other learning methods.
- Identify department SME’s to assist with training in accordance with the department’s training matrix.
- Monitor training programs to ensure that training is relevant, engaging, and effective, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Work with HR and executive management to establish training program budget.
- Stay up to date with training materials and training trends and ensure that departments are informed about new regulations and compliance requirements.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with yard wide training and communications
- Participate and represent MHI to VSRA as a training resource.
- Assist with and ensure proper training for Temporary employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors in related field, with 6 years of exp; or High School Diploma or equivalent with 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in delivering or facilitating training programs; Ship repair industry training exp preferred.
- Experience in designing lessons or content.
- Ability to implement complex change management
- Ability to Communicate written and spoken information in a clear, concise, organized manner.
