Registered Nurse Job Details

• Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Locum Tenens)
• Location: Martinsville, VA 24112 (Southern Virginia nursing jobs)
• Employment Type: Travel/Locum Tenens
• Healthcare Setting: Medical/Surgical Unit – Telemetry
• Facility Size: 41-bed unit in a full-service, acute-care hospital
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (August 21, 2025 – November 7, 2025)
• Weekend/Call: Every other weekend and as needed
• Electronic Health Record: Meditech
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800-$1840

RN Qualifications and Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, Handle with Care, NIH Stroke Scale (must be obtained prior to start)
• Strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and ability to work independently
• Willingness to float to other units or facilities within a 25-mile radius
• Consent to random drug screening and completion of a criminal questionnaire/consent form
• Availability for all shift patterns, including weekends and holidays

Key RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to diverse patient populations in a 41-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Monitor and assess patients with post-op orthopedic procedures, total joints, and common medical diagnoses
• Maintain a safe patient ratio of 1:4 for optimal care
• Document and coordinate care using Meditech EHR
• Adapt to a fast-paced, acute-care hospital environment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes
• Float to other units or healthcare facilities within a 25-mile radius as needed
