• Location: Roanoke, Virginia 24014
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel nursing contract)
• Unit: Neuro ICU (7S NCC ICU)
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: September 7, 2026 (up to 52 weeks; 13-week minimum)
• Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (06:45 – 19:15); 4x12 available upon request
• Hours per Week: 36 (full-time)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680-$1730
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Patient Population: Adults
• Number of Beds: 12
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Orientation: 24 hours

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience (Neuro ICU preferred)
• Experience in large Level I/II healthcare facilities required
• Epic charting system proficiency
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Prior neurocritical care experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment (2 holidays during winter contracts)
• Travel nurses must reside at least 100 miles from the facility (exceptions for 50-99.9 miles for one 13-week contract)

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill neuro patients, including stroke, neurosurgery, spine, and neuro-specific diagnoses
• Manage and monitor patients with EVDs, therapeutic hypothermia, and other neurocritical procedures
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV sedation, and paralytics
• Interpret ABGs, dysrhythmias, and manage ventilated patients
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Adhere to infection prevention and isolation protocols
• Participate in orientation, ongoing training, and quality improvement initiatives
