Lead the overall electrical commissioning process, follow standards set by the organization and oversight of multiple commissioning projects for large data center projects. This candidate will act as a Commissioning Subject Matter Expert (SME) to ensure that commissioning experts follow commissioning standards, adhere to a thorough quality management / QC process and procedures that validate and document client’s systems. This candidate will also handle any technical commissioning issues for their data center clients.

Position can be located out of any major data center hub or near a major airport.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as a SME on Electrical Commissioning Projects on a wide range of Data Center Commissioning projects
  • Will be managing the technical aspect of projects and act as a technical resource for commissioning teams
  • Ensure Commissioning standards are being followed for: Equipment pre-start-up and start-up procedures; Development of standard operating procedures (SOP's) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs); Comprehensive Commissioning documentation
  • Ensure that the overall Commissioning process is being followed with the highest of standards:
    • Commissioning test procedures and reports
    • Commissioning logs, equipment checklist, and other tools to track commissioning projects
    • Comprehensive reports which include:
      • recommendations for optimizing building operations
      • functional checklists
      • list of deficiencies
      • equipment operation
      • maintenance manuals
  • Ensure that the teams follow Electrical Commissioning Standards:
    • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning
    • Integrated system testing; Load Bank Testing; Compilation of all testing procedure results
    • Functional tests for various building MEP systems, normal and standby electrical distribution systems, UPS, standby generators, PDUs, Switchgear, power equipment, etc.
    • System Assembly;
    • Commission plan preparation
    • Follow company QC process and procedures
  • Interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors and owners agents as needed;
  • Execute project assignments; Interface with project contractors, vendors, and testing technicians; Interact with all facets of the company: engineering, design, etc.
  • Verification of commissioning results of test reports
  • Assist with field troubleshooting of commissioned equipment as needed; Field experience in the operation and application of Power Quality Analyzers, Power Disturbance Analyzers, Data loggers, and related system testing equipment

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 + years experience in the Electrical Commissioning Field
  • Bachelor's / Associates Degree as an Electrical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer a plus
  • A/E experience working in complex facilities or mission critical projects
  • Previous Data Center / Mission Critical experience a must;
  • Experience commissioning enterprise data centers, colos, and hyperscale companies
  • Electrical Commissioning experience: electrical power and distribution systems, UPS, standby generators, PDUs, Switchgear, power equipment, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (this role requires heavy amount of writing, documentation, and client interaction)
  • Experience with Level 1-5 commissioning
  • Experience with IEEE procedures and protocols a plus
  • Possess basic knowledge of systems design for various projects
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project
  • Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus (Navy Nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)
  • Open to 50% Travel (not long periods of travel / just many smaller ones to check on multiple projects)
  • Must live 60-90 minutes from a major airport
