Job Title: Mechanical Installer Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on installing mechanical systems, chutes, interfaces, and related components in a large warehouse environment. You will work with hand and power tools, follow detailed blueprints and standard operating procedures, and handle both mechanical and basic electrical installation tasks while maintaining a high standard of safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Install chutes, mechanical systems, and human-machine interfaces (HMIs) according to project specifications.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble, install, and secure mechanical and electrical components.
  • Work at heights of up to 6 feet using appropriate safety practices and equipment.
  • Read and follow blueprints, schematics, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) precisely without deviating from instructions.
  • Install wires, cables, and interfaces, working accurately with both large and small parts.
  • Perform mechanical assembly, including fitting, fastening, and aligning components.
  • Assist with general labor tasks such as loading, unloading, cleaning, and organizing materials and equipment.
  • Measure and mark materials using a tape measure to ensure accurate cuts and installations.
  • Support quality assurance by checking installations for accuracy, alignment, and proper function.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts when required and if qualified.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Collaborate with on-site advisors and service teams to complete installations on time and according to project requirements.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE, and report any hazards or issues promptly.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
  • Experience working with a wide range of hand and power tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience as a mechanical technician or in mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with installation work, including mechanical, electrical, and cable installations.
  • Capability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time during shifts.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfort working at heights of up to 6 feet.
  • Experience in general labor, construction, carpentry, industrial, or repair environments.
  • Basic understanding of electrical components and schematics.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance practices in a production or installation setting.

  • Experience in general production, assembly, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in construction, carpentry, or working with general contractors.
  • Experience with forklifts and inventory handling.
  • Previous work in industrial, warehouse, or large facility settings.
  • Service-oriented mindset with experience in field service or on-site installation work.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, labor-intensive environment.
  • Strong attention to detail when working with both large and small parts.
  • Valid identification suitable for site access and compliance requirements.

Work Environment

This position is based inside a large warehouse facility with many moving parts and active operations throughout the day. You will work closely with on-site advisors and service teams in a very fast-paced and physically demanding environment. The schedule typically runs Monday through Friday, with some work on Saturdays, for 8–10 hour shifts starting around 7:00 a.m., and you may need to be available before and after standard shift times as project needs require. The work involves standing and walking for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights up to 6 feet, and operating in an active industrial setting with mechanical and electrical equipment. Appropriate attire includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, and a work shirt, along with any required personal protective equipment provided or specified on site.

This is a Contract position based out of Rockville, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
