Healthcare Job Details

• Job Title: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Locum Tenens)
• Location: Roanoke, Virginia 24014
• Unit: Medical Progressive Care Unit (8 MPCU)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (October 6, 2025 – January 5, 2026)
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910 - $1960
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 (goal 1:4)
• Weekend Coverage: Required (6 weekend shifts per 6-week block)
• Orientation: 32 hours

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia nursing jobs
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or Stepdown nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• EPIC charting experience required
• Ability to float to other PCU or Medical Surgical units
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Strong clinical skills in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, non-invasive airway management, and cardiac drip management (no titration)

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a 20-bed telemetry PCU
• Monitor and manage patients with pulmonary, renal, and other medical conditions, including ventilator support (up to 2 vent patients)
• Administer and monitor IV drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Lasix, Bumex, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine)
• Care for patients with chest tubes, tracheostomies, and PICC lines
• Utilize oxygen delivery modes (CPAP, BiPAP, nasal cannula, face masks)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, and Social Services
• Float to other PCU or Med Surg units as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
• Adhere to infection control and isolation precautions
