Overview
Legal Specialist Associate - Legal Loss Mitigation TeamThe Legal Department’s Legal Loss Mitigation Team is seeking a Legal Specialist to support a team of attorneys who advise Capital One's various lines of business on their loss mitigation objectives.
The Associate will perform a broad range of task and project-oriented support, including review and research of internal and external loss mitigation related issues.
Job Responsibilities will include:
Manage Legal Matter intake process for various lines of business
Research, document, and resolve a wide variety of requests using independent judgment
Independently manage workload in an efficient manner
Identify and solve issues within scope and escalate to management when appropriate
Actively support and comply with team and department objectives
Assist with team administrative functions, special projects, and reporting
Work with management to identify and execute process improvements
May be trained to support multiple processes
The successful candidate will have:
Strong written and oral communication skills
The ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple, simultaneous deadlines
Sound judgment
The ability to work both independently and as a team
Strong problem solving skills
Proficiency in Google Suite
Ability to learn and navigate multiple platforms
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
At least 1 year of experience in project management
At least 1 year of experience in administrative support
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or military experience
Project management certification
1+ years of experience in a law firm or legal department
Paralegal certification

This role is hybrid meaning associates typically spend 3 days per week in-person at one of our offices listed on this job posting.
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $81,700 - $93,300 for Legal Specialist Associate Richmond, VA: $74,200 - $84,700 for Legal Specialist Associate New York, NY: $89,200 - $101,700 for Legal Specialist Associate Riverwoods, IL: $74,200 - $84,700 for Legal Specialist AssociateCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
