JOB OVERVIEW
Maintains the Resort landscaping and surrounding areas. Plants and maintains new and existing vegetation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Cutting lawns with push mowers and riding mowers.
- Maintaining trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls.
- Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
- Assist in annual flower plantings.
- Cleans grounds and assists in leaf removal.
- Shovels snow from walks and parking lots.
- Spreads salt/ sand on public passage ways to prevent ice buildup.
- Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
- Waters lawn and shrubs.
- Repair irrigation lines and helps identify problems.
- Mixes, applies appropriate pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or insecticides if certified.
- Under the direction of the Grounds Manager and Director of Facilities, plans and sets up holiday decorations.
- Assists with special projects.
- Assist in eradication of invasive species across the resort
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Workers work outdoors in the field approximately 90% of the time and indoors 10%. They are required to work independently and together as a team on grounds and special projects.
Requirements:Essential
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include holidays, weekends, and nights if needed.
- Must have ability to learn how to operate maintenance equipment.
- Must be able to follow instructions.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team.
- General understanding of landscape plants and their care.
Desirable
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance.
- Strong understanding of all plants including natives and care of.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds overhead.
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and work extended hours in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to walk long distances, bend and shovel.
- Must be able to operate and drive a golf cart.
- Able to read and follow directions.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
All employees must learn and comply with all Resort safety rules; must use appropriate safety equipment at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features or equipment, machinery or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisor if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
