ICU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Norfolk, VA 23507 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (September 1, 2025 – November 29, 2025)
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Setting: Mixed IMC/CC (Intermediate Care/Critical Care) Unit
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM start)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Patient Ratios: 2-4:1 (ICU travel nurses typically capped at 3:1)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2070 per week

ICU RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience required
• Experience with advanced heart failure therapies preferred
• Skilled in titrating vasoactive drips (Milrinone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Vasopressin, Lidocaine, Nicardipine, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin)
• Proficient with ICU equipment (LVAD, CADD Solis VIP, Remunity, Tyvaso, bedside monitors, Impella)
• Ability to adapt to changing healthcare staffing needs

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in a mixed Intermediate Care and Critical Care unit
• Manage patients with heart failure, VAD complications, NSTEMI/CAD, arrhythmias, transplant rejection, PAH, hypoxic respiratory failure, GI bleeding, renal failure, and sepsis
• Administer and titrate various drips and medications, including vasoactive agents, anticoagulants, and IV antibiotics
• Monitor and operate advanced cardiac and critical care equipment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital protocols
