Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – Cloud Migration to lead large-scale cloud transformation initiatives, including the migration of enterprise applications from on-premise environments to modern cloud platforms.

This role will be responsible for end-to-end program leadership, including planning, stakeholder management, migration strategy execution, and delivery governance. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing complex cloud migration programs, application portfolio discovery, and enterprise transformation initiatives across cross-functional teams.

The Senior Project Manager will collaborate with architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless migration, minimal business disruption, and successful cloud adoption while delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Management:
    • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, and resources.
    • Define project milestones, deli...verables, and success criteria.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of cloud projects.
    • Monitor and track project progress, adjusting plans as necessary to meet project goals.
  • Cloud Migration and Transformation:
    • Create strategies for cloud exploitation, including business case development and cloud architecture design.
    • Lead the migration of on-premise applications to the cloud, considering re- building using cloud-native technologies or purchasing from Cloud SaaS providers.
    • Architect migration approaches, ensuring seamless transition and minimal disruption to business operations.
    • Innovate delivery methods using agile and cloud tools to enhance project execution.
    • Organize and prioritize applications to be migrated based on business criticality, complexity, and dependencies.
    • Experience in managing application inventories, documentation, and related metadata.
    • Understand industry-standard frameworks and tools for application discovery and assessment (e.g., CMDB, ServiceNow).
    • Understand the migration concepts of 6R Strategy - Rehost, Re-platform and Refactor etc.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders.
    • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders regularly.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment with project objectives.
    • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with application owners, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams.
    • Coordinate and schedule interviews, workshops, and meetings with relevant stakeholders.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and addressing concerns or objections.
  • Resource Management:
    • Allocate and manage resources efficiently to meet project needs.
    • Collaborate with HR and other departments to secure necessary resources.
    • Ensure team members are adequately trained and equipped to perform their roles.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Implement contingency plans to address unexpected issues.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and customer expectations.
    • Implement best practices and industry standards in project execution.
    • Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are within approved limits.
    • Monitor expenditures and report on financial performance.
    • Identify and address any budget variances or financial risks.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, and records.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 14–18+ years of overall IT experience, with at least 7+ years managing large-scale technology or cloud transformation projects.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise cloud migration programs involving multiple applications and business units.
  • Strong experience migrating workloads from on-premise environments to public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience developing cloud migration strategies and roadmaps, including application assessment and migration planning.
  • Hands-on experience with application portfolio discovery, dependency mapping, and migration wave planning.
  • Understanding of cloud migration frameworks such as the 6R strategy (Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Repurchase, Retire, Retain).
  • Experience managing application inventories, CMDB data, and documentation using tools such as ServiceNow or similar platforms.
  • Strong experience working with cloud architects, infrastructure teams, DevOps engineers, and application owners during migration initiatives.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Experience managing cross-functional and distributed teams, including onshore and offshore resources.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with business leaders, technical teams, and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience with Agile, hybrid, or traditional project delivery methodologies in cloud transformation programs.
  • Experience working in large enterprise environments or consulting organizations delivering cloud transformation programs.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architecture concepts, SaaS adoption, and DevOps practices.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum, AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications are highly desirable.

Compensation & Benefits for Fulltime hiring.

  • Trianz compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The annual pay ranges between USD $140,000 to $155,000. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
