As a Staff Accountant, you'll report directly to the Controller and be involved in full-cycle accounting, including project accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. Your contributions will directly support the successful management of accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in preparing period-end closing journal entries for approval and input into the accounting system (Costpoint).
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of monthly financial information, including journal entry reviews and account reconciliations.
- Contribute to the budgeting process as directed.
- Calculate and review indirect rates.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, including comparing purchase orders, prices, payment terms, and other charges.
- Process weekly check runs and assist with monthly accounts payable close.
- File paid vendor vouchers and reconcile vendor statements.
- Assist with payroll processing tasks.
- Prepare and enter monthly journal entries for the month-end close process.
- Support the annual 1099 reporting process.
- Assist with research, compliance, and government audits as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller or President.

Qualifications:

- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, with the ability to handle a variety of routine accounting tasks.
- Familiarity with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Proactive problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to analyze accounting information to identify and correct errors.
- Ability to respond to auditors and external organizations as required.
- Experience in managing multiple tasks efficiently and with a high level of accuracy.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems.

Desired Qualifications:

- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or relevant public accounting experience.
- Experience in government contracts and cost accounting for various contract types (T&M, FFP, CP, etc.).
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
- Proficiency with Costpoint software.
- Experience in internal or external auditing.
