Electrical Technician II

Join a dedicated team in Ashburn, VA as an Electrical Technician II, supporting the reliability and performance of critical battery systems for Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. This role offers hands-on experience with battery installations, preventative maintenance, and system certifications in a dynamic environment. The position provides opportunities to learn and grow within the electrical services field, working alongside experienced professionals and contributing to the smooth operation of essential infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
• Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of batteries with minimal disruption to customers.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site during all phases of work.
• Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
• Interact professionally with internal teams and external customers.
• Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment as required.
• Assist with tasks in other service divisions, such as Switch Gear, Operations, and HVAC, as needed.
• Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions.
• Learn to disconnect and connect sealed batteries in cabinets and open racks.
• Learn to build and install flooded cell battery racks and spill containment systems.
• Enter pre-installation test readings and collect data for reporting using a laptop computer.
• Gain experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on DC battery systems with increasing independence.
• Assist in warehouse operations when required.
• Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
• Travel approximately 30% or more as part of the role.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to safely operate department equipment and use hand tools.
• Basic understanding of or willingness to learn AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
• Ability to follow safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and arc-flash suits.
• Willingness to complete training on digital multimeters, amp clamps, flexible CTs, and battery testing equipment.
• Understanding of battery string connections (series, parallel, series-parallel) or willingness to learn.
• Ability to work from diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
