Coastal Marine Services - Is Hiring General Laborer support for Interior Decking, Painting and Insulation projects here in Norfolk, VA

Summary: Performs variety of general work on U.S. Navy shore facilities, waterborne vessels, surface ships and/or submarines. Tasks will be assigned by Project Manager

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performs a variety of general manual labor tasks including, but not limited to, lifting and moving materials, loading and unloading vehicles, surface preparation work, and other activities in a helping or assisting;
• Perform housekeeping efforts to maintain cleanliness of the worksite
• Delivers materials as required
• Performs duties as Fire Watch
• Participates in special projects as required.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education/Experience:

No formal training is need, however, experience in ship repair is helpful.

Must have a clean record and be able to obtain a DBIDS (Gov't issued badge for Naval base use)

Equipment:

Need General Hand Tools, but must be able to operate Power tools such as Jack Hammers, Needle Guns, Hand Sanders, etc..

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

Must be able to read and understand material safety data sheets (MSDS).

Able to follow safety procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required on a regular basis to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and/or hear. Frequently the employee is required to carry objects that might weigh up to 60 pounds.

Job Starts @ $18-20/Hour with depending on qualifications.
