We are seeking a Survey Project Manager to lead boundary, topographic, SUE, and transportation surveys for major roadway and municipal infrastructure projects across Virginia. This role offers the opportunity to direct multiple field crews, manage client relationships, and play a key role in shaping the growth of the survey discipline.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) with a strong background in DOT/transportation projects, technical mastery of survey software, and proven leadership in managing both field and office teams.
What You’ll Do- Lead two or more field crews; assemble field data, perform calculations, and prepare plats and legal descriptions.
- Oversee QA/QC on deliverables, budgets, schedules, and invoicing.
- Serve as client point of contact, representing the firm at project and industry meetings.
- Mentor and manage survey staff, including performance reviews and professional development.
- Drive pursuit strategies and proposal development for new survey opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local survey regulations.
- Active PLS license in at least one U.S. state (or ability to obtain licensure in Virginia within six months).
- 8+ years of progressive land surveying experience, including DOT/roadway or transportation projects.
- Advanced proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local survey regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a standard background screen.
- U.S. work authorization (or TN visa eligibility).
- Multistate PLS licensure.
- Experience with SUE, aerial/LiDAR, or sUAS technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, or civil engineering.
