Accounts Payable Clerk

Position Summary:
The Institute for Justice, the national law firm for liberty, is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk (A/P Clerk) at its headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, to support its Finance team.
The A/P Clerk reports directly to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for the overall payables process to ensure that company expenditures & payments are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner.

Responsibilities:

• Process accounts payable timely, accurately using proper accounting principles and in compliance with financial policies and tax regulations.
• Process staff expense reports for reimbursement timely and review compliance with travel and reimbursement policies.
• Process staff corporate credit card reports timely and review compliance with travel and credit card policies.
• Communicate with vendors/staff regarding payment status, discrepancies, and queries.
• Maintain updated vendor records including contracts, tax forms, and payment information.
• Prepare and process the check payment processing activities, which occurs weekly.
• Process 1099 Forms
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree or associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• At least 1 year of accounts payable experience, 2-3 years preferred
• Experience with accounting software and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Experience with Intacct and Concur, preferred
