Job Summary
This pivotal role involves coordinating vessel and personnel movements, ensuring compliance with safety and certification standards, and supporting emergency response efforts.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day offshore vessel operations, ensuring smooth and efficient execution.
- Coordinate all vessel and personnel movements within the offshore windfarm construction site using marine management software.
- Serve as the primary contact for offshore emergencies, supporting emergency response and search and rescue operations.
- Create, review, and understand project documentation, including emergency response plans, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Communicate confidently at all levels to ensure work scopes are completed effectively.
- Check and validate the certification of personnel and vessels to confirm they are permitted to work on the windfarm.
- Act as the main point of contact within the marine coordination team for any operational issues.
- Monitor weather reports regularly and communicate weather windows to vessels and contractors to ensure safety.
- Maintain knowledge of vessel and personnel certification requirements and permit-to-work systems.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer literacy, including intermediate skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Apply knowledge of offshore renewable construction and operations & maintenance (O&M).
- Understand and interpret international maritime regulations, electronic navigation aids, and vessel systems.
- Ensure compliance with the IMDG Code and other relevant safety standards.
- Support internal and external reporting procedures, including audits such as ISO and ISM.
- Use navigational charts and nautical publications proficiently and interpret meteorological data for operational planning.
Requirements
- Proven experience in offshore renewable construction and O&M.
- Knowledge of vessel and personnel certification, permit-to-work systems, and safety standards.
- Familiarity with COLREGS, electronic aids to navigation, and shipboard navigational equipment.
- Understanding of vessel types, stability, propulsion, and bridge procedures.
- Knowledge of the IMDG Code and offshore safety protocols.
- Training and experience with marine coordination software.
- Ability to interpret meteorological information and apply it to operational decisions.
- Ability to work under pressure, assess performance, and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Additional certifications or experience in ISO and ISM audits are advantageous.
- Willingness to monitor weather conditions and adapt plans accordingly.
