Newly Enhanced, ED-Aligned Compensation

Carilion Clinic is investing in emergency psychiatry with a compensation structure designed to recognize the pace, acuity, and specialized clinical judgment required in the emergency department.

• ED physician-aligned base rate : Higher base hourly compensation commensurate with Emergency Department physicians

• Substantial shift differentials : Additional compensation for weekend and weeknight coverage

• Flexible practice model: Position may include virtual telepsychiatry coverage, with additional hourly incentive for in-person emergency department coverage

Your Role

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments in the emergency department

• Provide crisis intervention and stabilization

• Collaborate with emergency medicine on treatment planning

• Coordinate admissions, discharges, and referrals

• Educate and support patients and families

What You Bring

• MD or DO from an accredited institution

• Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry

• Experience in emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, or similar settings
