Introduction:

The customer seeks a Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience to support maintaining and enhancing an existing social media data exploitation platform. The candidate will work within a team environment and be responsible for developing improvements to a service-based web application. The work will involve close coordination with the product owner and program manager, ensuring application security, maintaining source code, and developing and maintaining SQL-based databases.

Role:

1. Work closely with the Customer's product owner and program manager to deliver user stories necessary to realize product vision.
2. Coordinate with multiple entities, including mission partners, to ensure tools meet defined requirements.
3. Continuously apply DevOps principles to deliver high-value software enhancements in a service-based architecture.
4. Address application security vulnerabilities by severity to maintain security accreditation.
5. Maintain all source code in a customer-wide, remote Git repository.
6. Design, develop, or maintain SQL-based databases.
7. Develop and maintain secure and scalable REST APIs.
8. Integrate services using messaging technologies, including service buses, publish and subscribe, and MQ.
9. Work with geo-locational data at the backend and the application tier.
10. Maintain Jenkins Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines with automated testing and deployment.

Experience:

1. Demonstrated experience with Python.
2. Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining SQL-based databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
3. Demonstrated experience developing secure and scalable REST APIs.
4. Demonstrated experience working with geo-locational data at both the backend and the application tier.
5. Demonstrated experience developing software in a DevOps environment.
6. Demonstrated experience maintaining Jenkins Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines with automated testing and deployment.
7. Demonstrated experience using Git as a source code repository.

Nice to Have:

1. Demonstrated experience working with big data processing and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, ElasticSearch, MapReduce, and HBase.
2. Demonstrated experience with Apache NiFi.
3. Demonstrated experience with the Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes.
4. Demonstrated experience managing and mitigating IT security vulnerabilities using Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs).
5. Demonstrated experience applying FISMA security controls.
6. Demonstrated experience documenting and communicating technical and non-technical mission requirements for all audiences.
7. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with other technical teams across multiple organizational boundaries.
