BI Engineer

**Job Description** This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of [Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford or Mountain View], you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum. **The Role** As a BI Engineer within the MAS Marketing Insights & Data Democratization team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable business intelligence solutions that drive performance insights across GM's digital ecosystem. Your work will directly support marketing strategy, media optimization, and website engagement initiatives by transforming complex data into actionable intelligence. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including MarTech, Media One, EDAI, and external partners (e.g., Google, Meta, Amazon) to build and enhance dashboards, reporting frameworks, and data pipelines that support standardized and ad hoc performance analytics. **What You'll Do** + Lead the development and automation of Power BI dashboards for media performance across channels (Display, Search, Social, Cross-platform) and website engagement metrics + Maintain and evolve self-service reporting tools supporting 17 brands across 22 markets + Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define taxonomy, enforce naming conventions, and ensure data governance compliance + Integrate data from Adobe RTCDP, AAM, and other MarTech platforms to support real-time analytics and audience segmentation + Support campaign-level reporting and closed-loop attribution analysis for media and site KPIs + Partner with MAS Performance Analytics Squads to deliver in-market insights and support brand-level marketing decisions + Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across reporting layers including Gold Layer creation for CRM and Site Reporting + Identify and troubleshoot data-related issues, optimize data pipelines, and support migration efforts (e.g., OnPrem to Azure) + Demonstrates very good understanding of the processes and procedures relevant to own work area with the ability to exercise decision-making skills sufficient to identify and propose solutions to leadership. Understands different areas of their function and how the operations of their area relate to others. + Identifies and corrects non-routine problems in existing systems and processes through independent judgment. Independently identifies and applies appropriate company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. + Works under general supervision with limited guidance and direction. Determines an appropriate course of action within broad guidelines and can handle nearly every standard or typical request independently. + You will recommend types of reporting analytics and procedures to apply to meet stated business objectives. + You will train and guide business partners focused on data analysis methodology reporting and tools. + Prepare documentation and analytical reports that effectively summarize results, assumptions, and conclusion. **Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)** + Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field. + 5+ years of experience in BI engineering, preferably in marketing analytics or digital performance domains. Master of Microsoft Excel and various BI (Tableau, PowerBI), and analytical tools. + Experience and validated mastery of dynamic data warehouse concepts/methodologies to implement business intelligence solutions. + Write efficient Structured Query Language (SQL) using various SQL-development software packages including Teradata and Oracle PL/SQL. Comfortable using custom SQL for complex data pulls. + Experience with Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), WebSDK, CJA, and RTCDP is highly desirable + Strong understanding of media measurement frameworks and digital consumer journey analytics + Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and data governance practices. + Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. **What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)** + Experience working in agile squads or cross-functional pods. + Ability to synthesize insights across channels and recommend strategic shifts. + Passion for enabling data democratization and driving marketing transformation. + Professional certifications are a plus (e.g., Microsoft Certified Business Intelligence, Data analytics tools certifications). Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate. **Compensation:** + The expected base compensation for this role is: $81,000 - $131,600.
