Mechanical Commissioning Agent III
Join a leading provider of commissioning services for mission-critical facilities as a Mechanical Commissioning Agent III. This role is essential to ensuring the operational excellence and reliability of data center mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will be based in the DC/MD/VA area and will play a key part in the commissioning of complex mechanical and electrical systems for large-scale data centers. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the ongoing success and growth of the company. Expect a dynamic work environment with significant local travel (approximately 70%) to project sites.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute commissioning activities for data center mechanical systems, including generators, CRAC units, rooftop AHUs, humidifiers, sprinkler systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, exhaust fans, and digital electrical distribution equipment.
- Review client design packages and documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Monitor and analyze Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Level 3 testing for first-of-kind equipment.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive commissioning documentation, including test procedures, logs, checklists, and reports.
- Prepare and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and methods of procedures (MOPs) for mechanical systems.
- Participate in daily commissioning meetings and coordinate with project teams, contractors, vendors, and clients.
- Conduct integrated system and load bank testing, and compile and verify test results.
- Assist with field troubleshooting and provide technical support for commissioned equipment as needed.
- Ensure adherence to quality management and quality control processes throughout all project phases.
- Help lead and manage external resources, schedule and direct commissioning meetings, and attend construction and coordination meetings as required.
- Travel locally to project sites as needed (up to approximately 70%).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in engineering preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5-10 years of experience in the engineering field, with a focus on complex facilities or mission-critical projects.
- Previous experience with data center or mission-critical facility commissioning is required.
- Experience with electrical equipment testing in critical facility environments.
- Familiarity with IEEE/ASHRAE procedures and protocols is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of systems design for various projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
- Field experience with Power Quality Analyzers, Power Disturbance Analyzers, data loggers, and related system testing equipment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to interface effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in environments with moderate noise levels.
