• Design and implement JEE software applications
• Use modern software engineering tools and methodologies including Eclipse, and Atlassian Products (Jira, Confluence)
• Work with users in an Agile development approach to understand requirements, then elicit feedback and refine solution through demonstrations
• Present the solution at formal and informal design reviews, and document the design according to the Government's system lifecycle methodology

Qualifications

The following skills/experience are required to be considered for this position:

• Candidates must have 3-5+ years of experience WITH a technical degree in a related field such as computer science, electrical engineering, etc.
  • 7-8+ years of experience WITHOUT a technical degree in a related field.
• Proficiency with Java.
• Experience developing web applications utilizing Java Enterprise Edition (J2EE), XML, or Web Services at an enterprise level.
  • Including HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Proficiency with Spring Boot and microservice architecture.
  • Must understand basic Spring dependency injection concepts and key annotations.
  • Must know how to create a simple Spring Boot project.
  • Must understand basic Spring security.
• Proficiency with ORM frameworks such as JPA and Hibernate.
• Experience with SQL.
  • Must be comfortable writing queries.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to troubleshoot SQL performance issues and other common errors.
• Experience with React, Angular, NodeJS.
• We prefer candidates who are well rounded in both UI and backend development but is not necessary if they can demonstrate an expertise in one of the areas, and an ability to learn new skills on the job.

The following is a plus, but not required:

• AWS (EC2, S3, etc.)
• Kubernetes/Konvoy
• Swagger/OpenAPI
• Web services
• Unix/ Linux
• Docker

Desired knowledge and experience include:

• Developing 100% automating unit tests.
• Agile development approach.
• Ability to work in a high-pressured, tight-deadline environment.
• Superior written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Must be able to multitask efficiently and progressively and work comfortably in an ever-changing data environment.
• Excellent verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills; ability to communicate information to a variety of groups at different technical skill levels.

Education: A Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field with applicable experience is required. Applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Must be a US Citizen . Qualified applicants may be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information . Successful applicants for this position must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or approved for a qualifying exemption as a condition of employment. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required as part of the onboarding process.
