In this role, you will be responsible for developing and designing power distribution systems, typically 1000V or less, within industrial and manufacturing facilities. Your expertise will ensure the efficient and reliable operation of electrical infrastructure, contributing to the success of various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and design power distribution systems, including high and low voltage systems, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protective relays.
- Perform load flow studies, short-circuit analysis, harmonic analysis, and Arc flash studies to ensure reliability and efficiency of power systems.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, including specifications, drawings, and reports. Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards and regulations.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful completion of power system design projects.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, project managers, clients, and contractors to integrate power systems into broader project plans and address design or implementation issues.
- Identify and resolve electrical issues, and provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and operational phases.
- Ensure all designs and practices adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Travel to and work safely within industrial and manufacturing facilities, performing tasks like climbing stairs, ladders, and navigating congested environments and elevated platforms.
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 5-10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Virginia or ability to obtain within three months of the start date via reciprocity.
- Experience with electrical systems design, including power distribution, lighting and control systems, grounding and lightning protection, and emergency/uninterruptible power systems.
- Familiarity with system modeling software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, AGI) and proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-Suite equivalents.
- Strong knowledge of electrical technical codes such as NEC/NFPA 70, NESC/IEEE.
- Functional knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Prior consulting and construction experience is a plus.
