Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologist (Interventional Radiology) (Fredericksburg)

Summary

This position is assigned to the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Service at the Fredericksburg VA Health Care System in Fredericksburg, VA. Under the direction of the Chief Technologist and/or Service Chief of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine Service, this position performs administrative supervision duties for GS-9 Interventional Radiologic Technologists and below staff DRT technologists. ARRT certification in Radiography (R) is required.

Qualifications

Applicants pending completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be tentatively selected but not hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed only if qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA policy.
• Certification: All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by ARRT (R).
• Advanced ARRT certification is required for assignments involving CT, MRI, or Mammography.
• Education: Completion of a 24-month full-time training course or equivalent in a JRCERT-accredited diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or associate degree.
• English Language Proficiency as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
• May qualify under the Grandfathering Provision if applicable.
• Grade Determinations: Supervisory GS-10 level duties involve significant scope, complexity, and range of duties performed at least 25% of the time.
• Specialized Assignment in Interventional Radiography requires additional knowledge of vascular systems, specialized equipment, contrast media administration, digital imaging, and PACS.

Duties

• Supervise technologists performing routine and specialized radiologic procedures, ensuring quality and efficiency.
• Maintain records, prepare reports, and instruct trainees and physicians.
• Keep current with literature, procedures, and technical developments.
• Review studies, resolve technical issues, and develop new methods.
• Oversee Quality Assurance and Quality Control, assign work, and manage staff based on workload and emergencies.
• Develop techniques, teach staff, and assist in research protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including administrative and training responsibilities.
