Step into a role where your expertise keeps Peterbilt tractors and tanker trailers road-ready and compliant. You will repair and maintain company-owned fleet equipment in line with DOT and company standards, working in a fast-paced shop focused on safety and cost-effective maintenance.

Schedule & Pay

• Location: Lorton, VA
• Primary coverage: 3rd shift, 10:30 pm – 6:30 pm (can be slightly flexible on start time)
• Open to different shifts
• Onboarding: Start Monday–Friday on 1st shift
• Days: Monday–Friday
• Pay range: $28–$32 per hour

A Day in the Life

At the start of your shift, you’ll review the fleet schedule, prioritize preventive maintenance, and tackle diagnostics to keep downtime low. You’ll move between inspections, tank testing coordination, parts ordering, and warranty follow-ups—always with safety top of mind and documentation spotless.

What You’ll Do

• Apply safe work practices to maintain a secure shop environment.
• Repair and service fleet vehicles to meet all DOT and company requirements.
• Plan and track all maintenance: PMs, permits, registrations, annual tank testing, truck inspections, and safety gear (e.g., fire extinguishers).
• Organize and maintain fleet records in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
• Order parts and manage garage inventory.
• Keep shop equipment and work areas clean, orderly, and safe.
• Support initiatives to reduce fleet maintenance expenses and control costs.
• Identify warranty repairs and process reimbursements.
• Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned by fleet leadership.

Equipment Focus

• Peterbilt trucks and tanker trailers

What You Bring

• 2+ years as a diesel tractor-trailer mechanic (preferred)
• Tanker and hazmat experience preferred; higher pay for demonstrated skill
• Complete set of tools
• Air Brake Certification
• CDL a plus
• ASE certification a plus

Core Competencies

• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Working knowledge of DOT, EPA, and OSHA
• Excellent diagnostic capabilities
• Basic computer and data entry proficiency
• Strong operational and maintenance background
• Familiarity with tanker and hazmat requirements (preferred, not required)
