Ocean Logistics Coordinator
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ocean Logistics Coordinator to join a dynamic team in Newport News, VA. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing the logistics of ocean freight operations, ensuring that shipments are executed smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee ocean freight shipments from origin to destination.
- Communicate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Prepare and review shipping documentation, including bills of lading and customs paperwork.
- Monitor shipment status and proactively address any issues that may arise during transit.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments and logistics activities.
- Collaborate with warehouse and distribution teams to optimize inventory management.
- Assist in negotiating freight rates and contracts with carriers.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- Import/Export coordination experience (Either is fine).
- 2+ years of experience in logistics or freight coordination.
- Strong understanding of shipping regulations and customs procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
