Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/CCMA) – Contract-to-Hire

Salem, VA 24153
Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
$18.00/hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/CCMA) to join our clinical team in Salem, Virginia. This is a contract-to-hire position, offering the opportunity to transition to permanent employment based on performance. Under direct supervision, you will assist physicians and clinicians with patient care, ensure smooth clinic operations, and support both clinical and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment areas
• Record patient information prior to visits, including:
• • Vital signs
  • Height and weight
  • Allergies and medication updates
• Obtain and prepare patient records before exams or procedures
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms; order supplies as needed
• Assist physicians during exams and medical procedures
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections (as delegated)
• Maintain strict disinfection and sanitation protocols
• Answer patient phone calls and route appropriately
• Call in prescriptions and communicate with patients as directed
• Manage scheduling updates, including reschedules and no-shows
• Perform administrative tasks such as:
• • Filing, faxing, typing, and chart preparation
  • Reception duties as needed
• Enter orders under provider supervision

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• CCMA or CMA certification (required)
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Minimum of 2+ years of medical assistant experience
• Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification
