Job Summary:

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a Data Scientist to join their team in partnership with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). The role focuses on advancing intelligence capabilities through AI and machine learning, supporting the unification of AI across the Defense Intelligence Enterprise and enhancing decision-making processes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead data analysis and AI/ML development: Conduct comprehensive data analysis, including exploratory, predictive, and statistical analysis, to generate actionable insights and inform decision-making. Design, develop, and implement advanced AI/ML tools and algorithms, such as recommendation engines and automated scoring systems, to optimize processes and enhance capabilities.

• Innovate and apply cutting-edge techniques: Propose and apply advanced statistical and mathematical techniques. Design and evaluate leading-edge algorithmic intelligence concepts, leveraging novel technologies like large language models (LLMs), natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning to automate and enhance analytical processes and knowledge modeling.

• Ensure responsible AI and data governance: Evaluate data science, AI, and advanced analytic methods for risks, biases, and limitations. Provide guidance on AI system development, testing, and deployment, ensuring compliance with tradecraft standards and best practices for responsible AI, including bias detection and prompt fairness testing.

• Collaborate and refine analytical solutions: Partner with team members to develop and refine exploratory efforts, optimize data queries across various protocols (e.g., GraphQL, SPARQL, SQL), and enhance semantic data retrieval and reasoning across knowledge graphs.

• Conduct research and provide expertise: Continuously research state-of-the-art methods in data analysis, AI, and machine learning. Serve as a primary point of contact for data science expertise, advising on emerging methods, tools, and algorithms to advance analytical capabilities.

• Develop and evaluate system performance: Design and execute testing, evaluation, and verification/validation (TEVV) protocols to assess system performance, robustness, and fairness. Develop and track performance metrics, analyze results, and collaborate on corrective actions and continuous improvements.

• Manage and scale data solutions: Work with ambiguous information, deconstruct complex questions, and develop data schemas. Create and work in distributed analytic environments, scaling algorithms for large and complex datasets.

• Support capability development: Contribute to, edit, and store code in government-owned/controlled source version control repositories.

Qualifications:

Required:

• 0 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience

• Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI with a current Poly

• Skilled in data visualization and use of graphical applications, including Microsoft Office (Power BI-) and Tableau; major data science languages, such as R and Python; managing and merging of disparate data sources, preferably through R, Python, or SQL; statistical analysis; and data mining algorithms.

• Prior experience with large data multi¬ INT analytics, ML, and automated predictive analytics.

• In-depth knowledge and experience in using data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis, and scientific techniques to correlate data into graphical, written, visual and verbal narrative products, enabling more informed analytic decisions

• Experience writing either R or Python scripts to drive data science workflows, have experience using SQL, and managing and merging of disparate data sources, preferably through R, Python, or SQL; statistical analysis; and data mining algorithms.

• Experience with large data, spatial data, Multi-INT analytics, ML, and automated predictive analytics.

Preferred:

• Bachelors with 3 years of experience

• Recent applicable experience within the last 2 years

• Possesses a professional or graduate certificate in data science from a university, major online learning platform (all business for Data Scientists at any experience level
