Job Description

UVA Dine is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Baker to join our team at the Subway location in Newcomb Hall on the University of Virginia grounds. This is a full-time position responsible for the daily preparation and baking of Subway's signature breads and cookies, ensuring freshness, quality, and adherence to brand standards. Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake all varieties of Subway breads and cookies according to standardized recipes, production schedules, and quality guidelines.

• Follow precise measurements and procedures for dough preparation, proofing, baking, and cooling.

• Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to ensure consistent product quality.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the baking area, including ovens, proofers, mixers, and all baking tools and equipment.

• Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients and baked goods.

• Manage inventory of baking ingredients and supplies, reporting needs to the supervisor.

• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries of baking supplies.

• Support front-of-house operations as needed, which may include stocking bread, serving customers, or assisting with sandwich preparation during peak times.

• Adhere to all Subway brand standards, policies, and procedures.

• Work effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions and recipes.

• Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and inventory.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds occasionally (e.g., bags of flour).

• Ability to work a consistent full-time schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Monday-Friday).

• Prior experience in baking or food preparation is preferred, but not required.

• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed.
