Position Summary

Under direct supervision, performs duties to receive, retrieve, transfer, and store parts and materials for manufacturing operations. Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near the plant, yard, or work site. Reads work orders or follows verbal instructions to determine materials or containers to be moved. Operates forklifts and other material-handling equipment.

Essential Functions of the Job

• Fills requisitions, work orders, and requests for materials or other stock items; moves and/or distributes materials to fabrication and assembly areas.

• Assembles orders from stock and places them on pallets or shelves, or moves orders to packing stations, the shipping department, or trailers.

• Reads production schedules, customer orders, shipping orders, and requisitions to identify items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.

• Inspects product loads for accuracy and safely moves them throughout the facility to ensure timely and complete delivery.

• Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands them together in preparation for movement.

• Loads and unloads materials to or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves manually or using a hoist, crane, or forklift.

• Moves materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas by hand, hand truck, or forklift.

• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined locations.

• Uses a computer and hand-held scanner to access information, record transactions, and verify data.

• Records quantities of materials or items received or distributed by processing issues, transfers, receipts, or sales orders; keys transactions into RF hand-held or desktop computer.

• Ships finished goods/parts to destination and/or moves materials within assembly/fabrication areas.

• Operates forklifts, cherry pickers, and sit-down and stand-up lifts.

• Accurately records work order information and inventory transactions.

• Uses a computer to access information or verify data.

• Maintains a neat, clean, and organized work area.

• Follows all company and departmental safety rules, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Monitors work areas for indicators that materials are depleted or running low.

• Performs additional responsibilities as assigned to support business operations.
