Emergency Room RN Job Details

• Location: Salem, VA 24153 (Roanoke Valley – Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Facility Setting: Emergency Department (27 beds, high-volume ER)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (August 11, 2025 – November 10, 2025)
• Shift: 12-hour days (09:00 – 21:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Four weekend shifts per four-week schedule (Saturday or Sunday)
• Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1910–$1960 per week

ER Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia or compact state
• 2-3 years of recent Emergency Room (ER) nursing experience
• At least 2-3 completed travel nursing assignments preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
• Preferred: TNCC, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS certifications
• Experience in high-acuity, high-volume ER settings with 5:1 patient ratios
• Strong teamwork, communication, and adaptability skills

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to patients in a busy Emergency Department
• Assist with emergency procedures: RSI, sepsis interventions, stroke protocol (tPA administration), central line placement, and psychiatric patient care
• Coordinate patient transfers in compliance with EMTALA regulations
• Accurately document patient care using Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including RNs, medics, and support staff
• Maintain a calm, team-oriented, and respectful work environment
