Job Title: Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Day to Day:

• Manage and monitor Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for optimal system performance.
• Implement and maintain monitoring tools to ensure real-time visibility into application performance.
• Lead and participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Conduct regular code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for successful software delivery.
• Redesign and modernize infrastructure for batch processing.
• Address and rectify deviations from defined SLOs.

Minimum qualifications:

• Experience as a software engineer with distributed systems.
• Experience programming in one or more of the following languages: Java OR Python.
• Experience with AWS cloud (server and serverless) compute services.
• Experience with AWS Batch, Fargate, and API connectivity.
• Unix/Linux systems internals (e.g., filesystems, system calls) and administration.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Splunk, Grafana, and QuickSight.
• Strong understanding of service level objectives and performance monitoring.
• Previous experience in 24x7 support, including Level 1 to Level 4 support.
• Experience architecting, developing, and troubleshooting cloud-based systems.
• 2+ years working within Agile Development Practices.

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in distributed systems, storage systems, or databases.
• Experience designing, analysing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems in AWS.
• Experience managing infrastructure as code through CI/CD pipelines that leverage GitHub and Jenkins.
• Excellent communication skills and a sense of ownership, with a systematic problem-solving approach.
• Proven experience in end-to-end SDLC management, preferably in a cloud-based environment.
• Knowledge of industry best practices for cloud applications.
• Experience with New Relic and Open Telemetry is a plus

Location: Richmond,VA / Mxlean,VA

Salary Range: The salary for this position is between $100,000 - $120,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
