• Job Title: SICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Locum Tenens
• Location: Fredericksburg, VA 22401 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Level II Trauma Center, 38-bed mixed ICU (SICU/MICU/CVICU)
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nursing Contract
• Start Date: September 23, 2025
• End Date: December 23, 2025
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: May float to stepdown units (ratios 1:3-4)
• Charting System: Epic
• Scrub Color: Navy blue
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1820-$1870

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active VA or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of recent SICU or critical care nursing experience (first-time travel nurses welcome)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (TNCC and CSC preferred)
• Experience in Level II Trauma Center preferred
• Community hospital experience required
• Proficient in dysrhythmia interpretation, arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Completion of up to 8 hours of onboarding modules within 1 week of signing
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

SICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to trauma, cardiovascular, neurosurgery, and complex surgical patients
• Manage patients with acute ventilator needs, severe sepsis, multi-system organ failure, and post-operative recovery (including TAVR and CABG)
• Administer blood products and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Perform arterial line management, central/PICC line care, and assist with bedside procedures (chest tube insertion/removal, EGDs, bronchoscopies)
• Utilize advanced equipment: Swan-Ganz catheters, CRRT machines (Prismaflex), ventilators, balloon pumps, and rapid infusers
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Radiology, and more
• Float to stepdown units as needed, maintaining safe patient ratios
• Maintain strict infection prevention and isolation protocols
