J&J Landscape Management is a high-end, full-service landscape company serving Northern Virginia since 1998. We specialize in landscape maintenance, horticultural services, landscape enhancements, and outdoor living spaces for residential properties.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Horticulture Team Leader to join our team. This is a hands-on field leadership position for someone who is passionate about plant health, horticultural excellence, and leading a team to produce exceptional results.
As a Horticulture Team Leader, you will work alongside your crew each day, providing direction, training, and support while maintaining some of the finest residential landscapes in Northern Virginia. Success in this role comes from strong horticultural knowledge, attention to detail, organization, and a commitment to quality.
What You'll Do
- Lead and supervise a horticulture crew in the daily care of high-end residential landscapes
- Perform and direct planting, transplanting, pruning, deadheading, seasonal color installation, and detailed garden maintenance
- Maintain ornamental trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, bulbs, containers, and specialty plantings
- Monitor plant health and identify issues related to pests, disease, irrigation, nutrition, and environmental stress
- Perform and direct weeding, edging, mulching, staking, grooming, and seasonal garden bed maintenance
- Train and develop crew members on proper horticultural practices and J&J quality standards
- Promote a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
- Ensure tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials are used properly and maintained in excellent condition
- Maintain clean, professional job sites that reflect J&J's commitment to excellence
- Communicate effectively with managers, clients, and crew members to ensure work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 3 years of horticulture, gardening, fine gardening, or landscape maintenance experience
- Strong knowledge of plant identification, pruning, plant health care, and garden maintenance practices
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a small crew
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
- Positive attitude and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred
- Prior crew leadership experience preferred
- Horticulture degree, certification, or industry credentials are a plus
