The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct, hands-on support to individuals receiving services under the Developmental Disabilities (DD) Waiver. The DSP assists individuals with daily living activities, skill development, community integration, and the achievement of person-centered goals while ensuring health, safety, dignity, and respect at all times.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDirect Care & Support Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, eating, and mobility as outlined in the Individual Support Plan (ISP). Support individuals with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) such as meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, shopping, and budgeting. Provide medication assistance/administration as authorized and trained. Person-Centered Support Implement goals outlined in the Individualized Service Plan (ISP) and document progress accurately. Promote independence, choice, self-advocacy, and decision-making. Encourage skill development in communication, socialization, and daily functioning. Community Integration Support individuals in accessing community activities, employment, appointments, and recreational opportunities. Provide transportation as required using personal or agency-approved vehicles. Ensure individuals are actively engaged and included in their communities. Health, Safety & Compliance Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment. Follow all DD Waiver regulations, agency policies, and state guidelines. Recognize and report signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation immediately. Complete and submit incident reports, medication records, and daily documentation accurately and on time. Participate in emergency preparedness and follow emergency protocols. Professional Responsibilities Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency policies. Attend required trainings, meetings, and competency evaluations. Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, families, and other professionals. Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and ethical conduct at all times.
