Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our manufacturing operations team. This role is critical to maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable production equipment. The ideal candidate is a dependable, team-oriented professional with strong industrial maintenance, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting experience who can step in and contribute immediately. This position requires hands-on expertise with production machinery, the ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by adhering to all safety procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, electric tools, and production machinery.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems to minimize downtime.
- Ensure optimal equipment performance by following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications.
- Communicate scheduled preventative maintenance activities with production staff and monitor compliance.
- Track and manage equipment parts and supplies inventory, identifying and communicating future needs.
- Support additional maintenance or production areas as required.
- Notify supervisors of equipment defects, safety concerns, lockout/tagout conditions, or machines that are not safe to operate.
- Operate consistently within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and job safety analyses (JSAs).
- Follow written and verbal instructions accurately and efficiently.
- Conserve materials and resources to reduce waste.
- Adapt to changing priorities and operational demands.
- Participate in and support continuous safety improvement initiatives.
- Proven experience with electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and tape measures.
- Experience with industrial maintenance tasks such as working with 3 phase motors, PLCs, and conducting root cause analysis.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness and availability to work overtime when required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing maintenance environment.
- Experience with machining equipment and welding, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Must pass an initial drug screen and be subject to random drug testing.
- Must wear steel or composite-toe safety footwear.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and fumes. It is a fast-paced setting with moving machinery, sharp edges, and congested work areas. Physical requirements include pushing, pulling, kneeling, reaching overhead, grasping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roanoke, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
