Position Description
CGI Federal is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Backend Developer to join our innovative team. As a Backend Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable backend systems. You will work closely with front end developers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
This position can be located at any CGI office in the U.S, preferred location is Fairfax, VA; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities
Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Golang, Python, Java, and other technologies.
Strong understanding of modern application architecture and cloud native application development.
Experience with Google cloud or any other cloud native application development.
Experience building backend APIs with REST, SOAP, and developing microservices.
Good understanding of event driven architecture and design.
Working experience with large XML, WSDL, JSON data models and large data transformations.
Knowledge of big-data processing, developing scalable applications.
Strong working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases like Postgres, Mongo DB, and Google Firestore
Implement data validation, integrity constraints, and performance optimization techniques.
Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
Good understanding of caching strategies and working with cache implementations.
Expertise in writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
Strong understanding of authentication and authorization strategies with oAuth2.
Strong understanding of developing unit and integration tests.
Proven track record to learn new technologies and work within strict timelines.
Good written and oral communication skills with a knack for working under tight deadlines.
Experience working with large teams and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
Experience creating technical design documentation, collaborating with other Agile teams.
Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in backend development.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Angular Framework:
Expertise in Angular (preferably Angular 10+).
Deep understanding of Angular CLI, Angular modules, components, services, directives, pipes, and dependency injection.
Experience with Angular RxJS for handling asynchronous data streams.
Frontend Technologies:
Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
Familiarity with frontend build tools such as Webpack, Gulp, or Grunt, Node.js.
Experience with responsive design and CSS frameworks like Bootstrap, Materialize, or Angular Material.
State Management:
Experience with state management libraries such as NgRx, Akita, or others.
Ability to design and implement complex state management solutions.
APIs and Backend Integration:
Proficient in consuming RESTful APIs and integrating them with Angular applications.
Experience with Client and handling API responses.
Experience working with GCP and cloud-native application development.
Experience working with docker, NGINX.
Testing
Knowledge of unit testing and end-to-end testing frameworks like Jasmine, Karma, and Protractor.
Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and Behavior driven development (BDD) practices.
Version Control
Proficiency in Git for version control.
Experience with branching strategies and pull request workflows.
Performance Optimization
Skilled in optimizing Angular applications for performance and scalability.
Familiarity with tools for performance profiling and optimization.
Security
Understanding of common security practices and vulnerabilities (e.g., XSS, CSRF).
Experience with securing Angular applications.
Build and Deployment
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Cloud (GCP preferred) deployments.
Familiarity with Docker and containerization is a plus.
Other Technologies
Knowledge of other frontend frameworks (React, Vue.js) can be beneficial.
Experience with backend technologies (Node.js, Express) is a plu
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $70,800.00 - $156,700.00.
