Job Title: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) – Travel / Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) for a full-time or flexible travel contract assignment. This role involves floating between a major Level 1 Trauma Center and supporting community hospitals within a regional health system. Operating under a 1:4 supervised care team model, the CRNA will manage a diverse, fast-paced case mix including major vascular, neuro, high-risk OB/GYN, and orthopedic procedures.

Compensation & Position Details

  • Job Type: Long-Term Contract (26 Weeks)

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Schedule Options: Highly flexible. Standard 8-hour day shifts. The facility will consider candidates available full-time (5 days per week), part-time (minimum 1 shift/week), or block scheduling (1–2 weeks per month). Local providers are welcome to apply.

  • Call Schedule: Must be open to beeper call. Expected maximum of 1–2 shifts per month (frequently no call is required).

  • Travel Logistics: Fully billable orientation. Reimbursable lodging allowance, rental car, mileage, and round-trip flights are available for qualifying non-local candidates.

Clinical Environment & Patient Care

  • Facility Size: 700+ bed teaching hospital environment with a comprehensive anesthesia department support staff (30+ Anesthesiologists and 70+ full-time CRNAs).

  • EMR Systems: Cerner / Epic

  • Procedural Scope: * Cases Handled: Large Vascular, Neuro, High-Risk OB/GYN, Ortho, General, and Thoracic. Note: Locums are not required to manage Pediatrics or Hearts.

    • Special Procedures: CRNAs independently administer their own drugs and routinely place epidurals, spinals, and arterial lines/catheters.

    • Exclusions: CRNAs do not perform Brachial Plexus blocks or other regional anesthesia blocks.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Certification: Active Board Certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) [Required] .

  • Clinical Experience: Proven, strong clinical experience working within a Level 1 Trauma Center and fast-paced surgical environments [Required] .

Licensure & Compliance

  • State Licensure: Active, unrestricted state nursing and advanced practice license. (Open to licensing candidates; compact or state-specific licensure preferred).

  • Credentialing: Standard timeframe is 90–120 days, with emergency temporary credentialing pathways available in 30–45 days.

  • DEA: Not required for this contract assignment.

  • Health & Immunizations: Medical or religious exemptions are accepted for facility-mandated guidelines.

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, patient-centered anesthesia care under a 1:4 care team model across multiple clinical environments, from trauma rooms to outpatient surgery centers.

  • Autonomously administer anesthesia medications and expertly perform advanced clinical procedures including spinal anesthesia, lumbar epidurals, and arterial lines.

  • Collaborate fluidly with a massive multidisciplinary surgical team to optimize patient safety, chart accurately within the EMR, and manage changing case volumes efficiently.

  • Maintain strict professional compliance regarding scheduling commitments, call availability, and clinical documentation guidelines.
