About the Role:

As a Diesel Mechanic within the construction industry, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment essential to construction projects. Your expertise will directly impact project timelines by minimizing equipment downtime through timely maintenance and repairs. You will diagnose mechanical issues, perform routine inspections, and implement effective solutions to maintain optimal equipment performance. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal diesel mechanic training program or apprenticeship.
• Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic, preferably in the construction or heavy equipment industry.
• Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification from a recognized body such as the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in diesel engines or heavy equipment.
• Experience with computerized diagnostic equipment and software.
• Familiarity with safety standards and regulations specific to construction equipment.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery for testing and troubleshooting purposes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and heavy construction equipment to prevent breakdowns.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and hands-on inspection.
• Repair or replace defective parts such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and fuel systems to restore equipment functionality.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Collaborate with equipment operators and site supervisors to schedule repairs and minimize operational disruptions.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
• Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies necessary for maintenance and repair tasks.
