• Position Type: Locum Tenens Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) – Travel Contract
• Location: Danville, Virginia (Zip: 24541) – Southern Virginia nursing jobs
• Facility: 250-bed Academic Community Hospital
• Unit: Emergency Room (31 beds, 2 triage rooms)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 8/5/2025 – End: 11/4/2025)
• Weekend Hours: Rotating weekends/as needed
• Patient Population: Adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 (may vary based on department needs)
• Electronic Health Record: MedHost (ED), Meditech (admit holds/behavioral health)
• Dress Code: Scrub color of your choice

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Virginia or compact state) – Registered Nurse jobs in Virginia
• Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS or ENPC ("Handle with Care" available on-site)
• Professional, positive, compassionate, and a team player
• Ability to float as needed within the Emergency Department
• Clear and complete screenings prior to start

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
• Assess, triage, and manage acute and behavioral health patients in a busy ER setting
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Document care and interventions accurately using MedHost and Meditech EHR systems
• Maintain patient safety and adhere to hospital policies and clinical procedures
• Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing professional development for ER nurses
