Data Team Roles
Data Team Roles
The Data Team is the technical and analytical engine for all quantitative research, data science, and voter modeling at Echelon Insights. We architect the infrastructure for large-scale, high-velocity research, combining cutting-edge data engineering, statistical rigor, and responsive client reporting. We are innovators who leverage the latest technologies to accelerate our workflows and ensure statistical excellence. We are dedicated to continuous refinement, making systems faster and operations more reliable with every project.
You may be a good fit for our team if you’re the kind of person who:
- Demonstrates extreme attention to detail. Total accuracy in your work isn’t just about checking a box, it’s a point of personal pride.
- You are intensely intellectually curious, both about your day-to-day work and topics further afield. Others are always learning from you.
- You have good judgment and strong intuition. You’re able to balance a data-driven, quantitative mindset with a qualitative understanding of real-world client goals and design deliverables that seamlessly blend the two.
- You have a strong interest in politics and public policy. You don’t need to be a political operative to work here, but you should have a keen awareness of the broader ecosystem Echelon Insights operates in.
- You use AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and beyond to multiply your output. You’re diving head first into the AI revolution and are curious and aware of all the latest developments in AI.
- Your desire to improve is relentless. You’re allergic to bureaucracy or just doing things the way they’ve always been done. You drive systems-level change without needing to be asked.
We are interested in talking to expert talent in each of the following areas.
Data Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence
- Helping to build and maintain our database architecture, including a continuously-updated national voter file.
- Build predictive models of voter and consumer behavior, including candidate and party preference, issue support, persuadability, and turnout
- Advocate for and implement outside-the-box approaches to enhance the predictiveness of our models based on hypotheses you’ve independently developed
- Build and maintain tooling to automate analysis workflows for both data and research projects, from automated deliverable creation, modeling, data quality assurance, and AI analysis of survey responses. Proactively suggest and build new solutions to drive efficiency and speed-to-insight across the organization. Use a combination of engineering skills and AI development tools to quickly build, deploy, and refine our analytical tools.
- Produce advanced statistical analysis deliverables including cluster analysis, persuasion/switch models, and outputs based on more complex or experimental survey methods.
- More broadly, help us re-imagine everything about our existing platforms and build the next generation of AI-enabled survey research and analysis. Be ready to be a thought- and do-partner in revolutionizing an industry.
Survey Data Processing
- Process raw survey data into standardized formats for analysis across platforms
- Develop and execute weighting plans, automated weighting systems, and
- Produce frequency tables, crosstabs, and statistical significance testing outputs
- Maintain combined survey files integrating multiple waves and data sources for longitudinal analysis
- Reconcile and append voter-file variables and other external data
Fieldwork Operations
- Develop fielding and pacing strategies to ensure balanced quota fill and high-quality response collection
- Design and implement complex demographic quota structures, including strategies for hard-to-reach groups
- Apply multiple safeguards to ensure the highest level of survey data quality
- Coordinate reconciliation with vendors to ensure accuracy in billing and disposition data
