FTZ Solutions Specialist
Job Title: Trade Expertise Center – Foreign Trade Zones Specialist
Reports to: Manager, Foreign Trade Zones
Summary
The Trade Expertise Center (TEC) provides trade‑related services to the Business Units, Newell Brands Distribution (1549), Newell manufacturing sites, and the Newell overseas distribution affiliates (hereafter collectively referred to as “the businesses”). The purpose of the TEC is three‑fold:
- Facilitate the timely release of goods by customs and related government agencies
- Ensure compliance with import/export rules and regulations, globally
- Minimize costs regarding duty spend (e.g., achieve savings)
The TEC is organized into five functional trade teams.
The FTZ Specialist’s primary job function is the administration and overall trade compliance of our foreign trade zones for Newell Brands. The trade compliance team, which consists of all business units under the FTZ program working as a cross‑functional environment, will adhere to Customs Import and Export regulations that foster a culture of compliance and excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit required daily, weekly, monthly, and annual documentation.
- Prepare the FTZ Annual Report, annual reconciliation and annual systems review in accordance with CBP regulatory requirements.
- Execute FTZ operations end to end to include daily processing zone transactions, which include filing FTZ admissions e214’s, preparing 7512 bonds, weekly reports 3461’s estimates and 7501’s entries.
- Investigate and resolve operational issues related to FTZ operations.
- Apply advanced knowledge of Foreign‑Trade Zone regulations and requirements to support business needs.
- Manage required FTZ recordkeeping retention program, ensuring that all FTZ records are maintained and readily available for CBP review in accordance with the applicable recordkeeping regulations.
- Initiate and create customs entries for exports and zone‑to‑zone transfers for merchandise leaving the zone.
- Operate FTZ Inventory Control and Recordkeeping Systems by managing daily inventory balances; monitoring zone admission data; and conducting weekly estimate (import and export) process.
- Execute a comprehensive examination of import and export documentation including commercial invoices, international bills of lading, and related shipping documents to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Conduct reviews/audits of all FTZ records while ensuring accurate and complete record keeping are maintained for FTZ movements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal FTZ operating procedures.
- Compile and save shipping documents (paper or electronic) to comply with government regulations.
- Other duties as assigned – Depending on status of ongoing projects and support needed on the different areas of Customs Compliance including but not limited to NAFTA, Pre and post entry audits and statistical reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 3 years total experience in Trade Compliance, International Transportation, Logistics, Materials Management, or Inventory Control
- Basic understanding of commercial invoices, packing lists, house bill of ladings, master bill of ladings and other related international shipping documents
- Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the company
- Ability to prioritize, organize and complete tasks in accordance with established standards and deadlines
- High energy level, positive attitude, strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
- Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills
- High proficiency with computer software applications in Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and Outlook, Windows operating systems, and Internet Explorer
- Must work well independently and in team environment
Remote base pay range for this position is from $60,000 to $70,000. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
